5 Gold Anchors for Bobbin Head!

EMPIRE Marina Bobbin Head has been awarded the highest rating of 5 Gold Anchors under the Marina Industries Association of Australia International Rating System for Marinas.

The marina was presented with it's rating at a ceremony attended by the Chief Executive of the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) and senior representatives of the Department of Environment and Climate Change.

The rating system is designed to provide boat owners and marina users with an easy reference system similar to the Hotel Association's star rating scheme. Marinas utilising the new rating system are independently assessed against a specialised points-based criteria covering more than 96 different elements of marina facilities and services.

The rating criteria covers areas relevant to consumers including marina design, infrastructure and condition, services offered, environmental considerations, land facilities, food and beverage facilities, local attractions, enquiry processes, booking process simplicity and marketing.

The marina was one of only two in Australia to have been awarded 5 Gold Anchors under this scheme. Darren Vaux, Director of Empire Marinas, is very pleased with the result.

"It is very satisfying that the marina has been rated at the top of the market from a consumers' point of view.

It is a credit to the marina staff that they consistently deliver the highest level of service to our valued customers, and the continuous validation under the scheme will impose the discipline on us to keep us at the top of the game"

As part of the scheme, the MIAA have developed a website, www.goldanchor.net which will house details on the scheme and a directory of Gold Anchor rated marinas.

New Trolleys

TWELVE custom-made high quality marina trolleys are now available for use by customers at Bobbin Head.

The sturdy, but lightweight, aluminium trolleys are large enough to carry a reasonable load and the mesh design also means they are less likely to get dirty or water affected. They are easy to use under load and have legs so can stand level when dockside.

These trolleys form part of the marinas' ongoing improvements programme.  Feedback from customers has been very positive and the number of trolleys should ensure adequate availability of the trolleys for customer use.

The marina does request the assistance of customers in returning the trolleys back to the car park trolley bay when not in use.

Save Power with LED Lights

EMPIRE Marina Bobbin Head has recently become a distributor of LED lights.  These energy efficient bulbs are available for all marine lighting applications including cabin, deck, and navigation lights.

LED lights can assist boat owners achieve a reduction in power consumption of up to 90% when compared to incandescent bulbs.

The need for power reduction is significant when operating off batteries; LEDs can make for a more relaxing time away on your boat without the concern of lighting draining the house battery.

The marina has a full display in the office, and with a replacement LED fitting available to replace most marine globes, now may be the time to review your vessels requirements in the 'light' of this new technology.
